When I was a young adult, I took art classes, and loved to draw. But as we all know, life can grab hold of you and take over. Before I knew it, I had abandoned the art that I loved. Finally, after 30 years working in the medical and construction fields, and at the insistence of a dear friend, I finally went back to my love of creating art. My need to be an artist had always been there, but I had locked it away. The process of retraining my brain to think creatively took a bit of time. Now everything I see is a painting; every color and every line sends my mind on an imaginary journey to places I have never been.
Color is what really turns me on. Blending and making new values enlivens my mind. My style and techniques have been going through changes as I explore the images I paint, and bring the colors into my world.
My hope is that with my ever-changing vision, my paintings will evolve in complexity as I grow as an artist. I continue to paint very diverse subjects, refusing to stick to one subject which bores me.
I hope that as you view my paintings you will be transported to a place of wonder, and ask questions of who, what, when, where and most importantly why. Get past the superficiality and look deeper at the work. The meaning is yours to decide.
